Chalfont St Peter,
THE MOST RECENT STAGE OF CHILTERN AND SOUTH BUCKS DISTRICT COUNCILS’ NEW LOCAL PLAN IDENTIFIES TWO SUBSTANTIAL GREEN BELT SITES IN CHALFONT ST PETER FOR DEVELOPMENT.
PLEASE CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE DOCUMENT WHICH WAS HANDED OUT AT THE MEETING INFORMING YOU HOW TO RESPOND TO CHILTERN DISTRICT COUNCIL'S PROPOSED PLANS FOR CHALFONT ST PETER.
South Bucks and Chiltern District Councils have further developed the new Local Plan which identifies their preferred green belt sites for development for the period 2015 to 2036. The new plan includes a large development quota in Chalfont St Peter. This means our precious green belt is under sustained attacked by the district councils, the government and ultimately the developers. Once again Chalfont St Peter is set to be forced to accept far more than its fair share of new development, despite far more sustainable sites being easily identifiable elsewhere in the Chiltern and South Bucks District.
We are currently in a further consultation period which runs until 5pm on 12th December. It is vital that residents of Chalfont St Peter have their say at this stage of the proceedings. The impact on our village could be devastating. The sites that have been put forward for potential development could mean well over 1000 new houses and significant loss of green areas. The two sites are:
• The developed part and also some undeveloped green fields on the Epilepsy Society site
• The area to the north of Chalfont Heights between Winkers Nightclub and Paccar Scout camp, including the scout field.
Members of both the Parish Council and SENSE (who have formed a joint working party)
gave their views on the latest stage of the Local Plan at a public meeting on the 21st November.
Click Here to access the Local Plan consultation document.
Hard copies can also be obtained from CDC and in libraries. Consultation forms for your
completion can also be found on the CDC website.
Even if you attended the public meeting in March and sent a response to the initial Local
Plan consultation, it's vital that you act again at this stage of the consultation process.
This would have a significant impact on parking, schools, doctors, sewerage infrastructure and traffic. IT WILL AFFECT ALL OF US.
We have a chance to influence this, but we need to act NOW!
Chiltern District Council will be holding a number of exhibitions as part of the consultation.
The exhibition planned for Chalfont St Peter is:
Chalfont St Peter Parish Council Offices Saturday November 19th 2pm - 5pm
We urge you to attend to find out more.
A local alternative exhibition is at:
Beaconsfield Town Hall Saturday November 12th 9am -12pm
Our rural landscape is coming under sustained pressure as central government and developers are forcing us to accept more and more development. And now it seems they want our green belt too!
The poor quality of design and the density of these schemes are generally led by financial gain. Our cash strapped District Council are not minded to preserve heritage or push for aesthetic standards and sympathetic styling within these applications. Clearly we cannot expect to receive sensitive schemes from these development corporations – we must fight for it or we stand a very real risk of losing the amenity and essence of what once made our village special.
SENSE4CSP is an action group for Chalfont St Peter formed to fight for appropriate development in Chalfont St Peter. It is a non profit making organisation run by volunteers and we rely entirely on donations and the hard work of a few individuals to continue our work.
Working together with our Parish Council and our residents we have made a stand to fight insensitive planning applications and lack of representation from our District Council. We have had a few successes and some failures, but the fight continues.
We urge our residents to help us in any way that you can, whether by making a donation, helping us to deliver leaflets, writing representation letters to the planning department or by simply staying informed.
