SENSE4CSP objectives and aims
Chalfont St Peter is opposed to inappropriate development in the village. It is opposed to Chiltern District Council’s current Draft Core Strategy, and to the densities proposed for the Grange site and Chalfont St Peter in general.
SENSE for Chalfont St Peter (also known as SENSE4CSP) is not opposed to all development. It’s policies are led by it’s members, the Parish Council, the Village Design Group as well as professional advisory bodies.
SENSE4CSP supports the environmental and sustainability features in the Draft Core Strategy. It also supports the previous and current uses of the Grange as an educational facility and as private open space as well as the policies in place in the current Chiltern District Local Plan which resist their loss.
SENSE4CSP was formed to oppose Chiltern District Council and landowners and their agents who are working together to meet agendas which are not in the best interest of the residents of Chalfont St Peter and
of the Chiltern District as a whole. Although our Parish Council has formally objected and is working admirably to reduce the impact on our village, they are limited to the amount of opposition that they can put forth.
SENSE4CSP have forced Chiltern District Council to reduce proposed housing in Chalfont St Peter from 720 to 600 and have forced them to hold a district wide consultation, though not comprehensive enough. We are now concentrating on ensuring that Chiltern District Council go back and follow correct Local Development Framework implementation procedure, which should involve evidence gathering and full public consultation on all aspects of the plan.
SENSE4CSP will fight inappropriate planning applications from Gerald Eve, the agents for the Holy Cross(Grange) site and attempt to bring the parties responsible for saving our schools, heritage, open spaces, environment and wildlife together to result in a more harmonious and altogether sensible resolution.
