With terrific public support, SENSE4CSP have forced Chiltern District Council to reduce proposed housing in their Draft Core Strategy in Chalfont St Peter from 720 to 600, though still excessive it is a step in the right direction.

Also with your help, SENSE4CSP forced Chiltern District Council to hold a district wide consultation. However with all of the decisions having already been made, this was nothing more than a sham.

We now have applications for in excess of 350 dwellings going into Newlands Park and 198 dwellings and a large care home for 72 at the Grange/Holy Cross site.

At the planning meeting in 5 August 2010 to determine the Holy Cross application, a letter from Sport England, the government’s statutory advisory body for reducing the loss of the country's sporting facilities, was read stating that they have oppose the loss of two playing fields and a running track, totalling 1.2 hectares. The Parish Council's planning adviser and Sense4csp aslo made representations. Yet CDC and Gerald Eve nevertheless openly ignored ignored everything that was said. CDC ultimately resolved to approve the application.

But now after substantial work by the Parish Council and pressure from residents, the governors of the middle school, the Diocese and Bucks County Council have confirmed their interest to bring about a land swap deal and build a new school on the Holy Cross site. If CDC are forced to maintain educational designation, as stipulated in their policies, the site's would remain affordable by the education authorities. Their decision will now only be overturned if the Parish Council is granted a Judicial Review and it is ultimately successful.

However, the Draft Core Strategy though amended significantly, still states that the development on the Holy Cross site has been agreed in principal. This is despite the challenge by Chalfont St Peter Parish Council and ongoing case by their legal team to obtain permission to Judically Review the decision by Chiltern District Council to grant the application. The amendments to the Draft Core Strategy are now open to consultation and will be presented to the Government Inspector for final consideration once the closing date for has passed on Friday 5th August.
